in/cube is a short-term residency at Project_Space at the FICA Reading Room. We invite practitioners to propose ways they might occupy our incubatory, experimental site, Project_Space and consider the possibilities that could arise from this occupation of a studio/ lab/ residency space located inside the FICA Reading Room.
By combining art practice with acts of reading, and situating them within the ambit of the Reading Room and Project_Space, we wish to think about the possibilities of artistic interventions around library spaces. We welcome inhabitant(s) at Project_Space to consider the versatility that resides within reading—and/or spaces for reading—as a provocation, where interactive frameworks for viewing, working and making can be designed and unpacked.
The inhabitant(s) will be encouraged to infer from and be inspired by the library as a space of gathering, rest, and community; the adjacency of Project_Space and the Reading Room is food for thought, an interstitial space that can be further augmented as a nodal environment, and integrated into a programming around the same.
