The FICA Reading Room was established in 2008 to address the need to make contemporary art publications available to a larger public that includes art students, independent researchers and art enthusiasts, who have little or no access to university or private libraries in India. The Reading Room anchors FICA – an art space open to the arts community at large – fostering ideas exchange, learning, and collaboration.

After our grounding eight-year stint at Defence Colony, where we worked alongside the Vadehra Art Gallery Bookstore, the Reading Room moved on to share a space with Gati Dance Forum in Khirki Extension Area for a short period. Currently, we are situated in the midst of an energetic art neighbourhood in Lado Sarai, where the Reading Room functions as an intimate, interactive space for workshops, discussions, film screenings and other programmes. Our roster of events also include talks by visiting artists, scholars, curators and critics, workshops for young practitioners, educators and children, and discussion forums on a variety of topics.

The FICA Reading Room is open to all from Monday to Saturday, 10:30 AM - 6:30 PM.
