The FICA Inlaks Goldsmiths Scholarship 2015 | Karthik KG

FICA, in collaboration with Inlaks, is pleased to announce that Karthik KG has been selected as the recipient of the FICA Inlaks Goldsmiths Scholarship 2015 - 2016.

As the recipient of this scholarship Karthik will participate in the one year M.Res. programme in Curatorial/Knowledge course at Goldsmiths, University of London. The programme takes place within the world’s only dedicated PhD programme for advanced contemporary curatorial research. It provides a profound grounding in a variety of relevant theoretical knowledges and offers a unique meeting ground for a network of internationally active curators.

Karthik's proposal titled Coded Objects and Code Objects: Cartography, Causality, Curation  impressed the jury which consisted of members from FICA, INLAKS and Goldsmiths. The final round of selection was undertaken by Prof. Irit Rogoff and Prof. Stefan Noworty at the Curatorial/Knowledge Programme. "The jury was impressed by Karthik's thoughtful approach to an investigation into the increasing importance of codes and algorithms in contemporary societies. With their impact ranging from the everyday use of digital technologies to new modes of knowledge production, codes and 'coded objects' also pose a series of new curatorial challenges. Karthik's research project thus promises to precisely address the conjunctions that Curatorial/Knowledge endeavors to explore."
