Book Show I by Priyesh Gothwal opened on 14 March with a wonderful reading session at Project_Space at the FICA Reading Room. We welcomed readers and listeners alike, to an evening of sifting through a remarkable selection of zines, artist books, photo books, comics, poetry, sketchbooks, journals, annotations and more—all brought together by simple acts of collaboration, shared conversations and a keen interest in exploring the book form itself.
We were very pleased to have among us several of the authors and creators themselves, and the reading session was initiated as an open invitation to activating some of the works on display, encouraging new encounters in different voices. This also led to scintillating conversations about processes, methodologies and the curiosities that bind so many artistic practices together—from understanding inspirations, influences and the chaos of references to decisions taken on both micro- and macrocosmic levels of making.
