About the Show: Vadehra Art Gallery and Lalit Kala Akademi present an exhibition of master artist A. Ramachandran in two parts: A Retrospective: Drawings, sketches and studies 1958 - 2014 and Ekalinji Fantasy: Paintings and Sculptures 2009 - 2014. Born in Kerala 1935, A. Ramachandran studied art at Santiniketan where the cultural and intellectual milieu of Santiniketan drew him closer to the art traditions of India and other civilizations and began his lifelong research on mural paintings of Keralan temples. The Retrospective is structured chronologically as well as thematically and moves from 1958 to the present, while Ekalinji Fantasy focuses on a more recent body of works.

About the Facilitator: Manisha Gera Baswani is a painter/photographer, based in New Delhi. She completed her Masters from Jamia Milia Islamia where she studied under renowned artists, including A. Ramachandran. A trained painter with numerous exhibitions to her credit, Manisha decided to pick up the camera along with the paintbrush nine years ago. Ever since, she has used it to capture fragile moments of fellow artists in their studios and creative spaces that they traverse along with the extended art fraternity of contemporary India.
